AH79  Whale Watching & The Blue Lagoon 1 Apr 2013 -
30 Sep 2013

Highlights:
  • Whale watching
  • The Blue Lagoon

Tour Description:

This is a nice combination of tours AH75 Whale Watching and AH29 The Blue Lagoon for those who want to do more in one day.

We will sail to the home of a unique variety of the Minke whales, Humpbacks, Harbour Porpoises and White-beaked Dolphins, which are all common sights in this tour. The local bird life is also diverse, including birds as the Puffin, Arctic tern, Gannet and many varieties of Gull. The entrance to the Whale Exhibition Centre is free of charge for Whale Watching passengers.

At 12:30 we offer a pick-up service at the harbour that takes you back to our office. Those wanting to enjoy a leisurely walk back to our office (10-15 minutes) are also welcome to do so. We ask you to be at our office at 12:50 at the latest.

At 13:00 we board the bus for the 50 minute ride to the Blue Lagoon where you can enjoy the qualities it has to offer! The Blue Lagoon is a unique geothermal spa situated in the youngest lava field in west Iceland. Once there you have many recreational options such as walking in the Blue Lagoon’s spectacular surroundings, bathing in the milky blue-green water, relaxing in a geothermal steam bath or releasing the stress from your shoulders under a Blue Lagoon waterfall.

Departures from the Blue Lagoon back to Reykjavík are at 15:00, 17:15 and 19:00. Transfer time to Reykjavík is about 50 minutes.

Although we didnt see any whales on the trip it certainly wasnt for lack of trying on the part of the tour people - we actually stayed out beyond the allotted time and were given vouchers good for 2 years for another trip on the boat! We saw lots and lots of puffins though, and even a seal. The guide had lots of information about whales and was very interesting. I do plan to try to come back to use my voucher, as I loved Iceland! The transfer to the Blue Lagoon was seamless. I didnt intend to actually go in to the spa because of the expense, but wanted to see it. It was worth the bus trip to see the surreal landscape around the Blue Lagoon property and I was able to get an early bus back to Reykjavik after my walk around.

A great day. Even though we didnt see any whales, the guide and staff were extremely helpful, friendly and informative and offered us another ticket if we go back in the next 2 years - hope we do!

The whale watching was good experience. though we didn't see anything like your pictures. In the blue lagoon, you didn't gave any guided tour, just dropped us to blue lagoon. So not very happy about it.

Thank you for your comments and review of our tours. The Whale Watching experience is never the same on any given day. Spotting whales and photographing them can give a different view when you are actually on the boat. Some photos are of moments that are sometimes difficult to witness with the naked eye. The Blue Lagoon transfer is just that, a transfer and not a guided tour, sorry that you had the impression that it was a guided tour. In our brochure and the description online of the service is clearly stated. AH29 The Blue Lagoon

We visited Iceland because my sister was getting married there. We decided to book a trip for the day before we went. Iceland Excursions were extremely helpful from the time I booked online, right through to the trips. Whale watching had to be cancelled on the day we booked because of the weather conditions at sea, but was offered a choice of a refund or a return trip the next day. We decided to go to the Blue Lagoon which was brilliant. The whale watching went ahead the next day and we did see some sightings of Minke Whales. We also did the Golden circle half day tour which my Dad booked, thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Gullfoss waterfall was amazing. The geysirs were well worth visiting. The tour guide gave some very good information on the history of Iceland and on the different places we passed through. We would never have given Iceland a thought on a country to visit but we are glad we went there, beautiful scenery and friendly people!
